I Wrapped On Zack And Miri

Well, I’m officially wrapped on Zack And Miri Make A Porno, the latest View Askew flick. I’ve always been enthralled with Kevin Smith’s work and persona, but being on one of his sets was even more fun than I had imagined. Pure genius is what I recall seeing on everyone’s part. The crew was absolutely amazing, and the cast, well — I can’t really give out details — you will see some very familiar faces in their first Smith flick along side the publically known cast. Keep an eye on IMDB, I’m sure people will update it once they hear who else is in it. But, for me, I just have to keep quiet.

Got to meet Kevin’s wife, Jennifer. Very cool chick. I spied her in between takes my first day on set and asked her why she was sneaking around. She just laughed and introduced herself with a handshake and a smile. Good people. Also, I briefly spoke with Dave Klein about the look of the flick. He thought it looked great and that Kevin was happy with it.

I managed to get in a scene with Seth Rogen and an actor I’m probably not allowed to mention yet, so I’ll button it. I will say that I’m on camera with those two, even though I don’t say anything. Hopefully, Kevin keeps that scene in the final cut.

Very surreal experience considering I’m such a huge dork of a Kevin Smith fan. Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to not spending days-on-end wearing the same clothes for thirteen hours at a time.

Great job by everyone invoved with the shoot. I’ll be back in Pittsburgh next month for my reading of Jerry’s Pub at Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater.

  1. I hope this is a return to form for Smith who has, himself, admitted that he’s dropped some real bombs on the cinematic world. The last time I saw him, he was giving an interview on CBC TV, talking about his bowel movements and looking about 150 pounds overweight. Explaining how his new “book” was really just an unedited version of his blog. He can do much, much better but is CHOOSING not to. Someone of his talent and ability can do far better…

  2. Yikes, those last two sentences say the same thing–that will teach me to post late at night. Please strike the last 10 words for the sake of brevity and clarity…

  3. I post late too. I think you will find this flick will be one of Kevin’s best to date. You’ve got such talent in the leading roles, and the look of the flick will be great. I heard somewhere that Kevin decided to shoot on 35mm instead of doing the digital thing. Can’t wait to see it.
